COVENTRY CITY MIGHT PLAY AWAY FROM HOME

Coventry City might play away from their ‘home,’ according to developments regarding a long-term stadium.

The future of the club is unclear as they are set to go without a home when their agreement to play at Ricoh Arena expires next year. Fans have asked that the club owners, Sisu, sell to better managers. Even the chair of the Football Association, Greg Clarke has expressed his disappointment with the situation at the club. He was speaking at the Culture, Media and Sport committee in Westminster.

“Coventry City is a very, very sad case. It’s a fine football club 20 miles from my home town and I still remember them winning the FA Cup.

“Their fans have had a torrid time and the bad blood that now exists between the owners, the fans, the local council has failed to be healed by multiple acts of mediation by the Football League,” said Clarke.

The Telegraph newspaper in the city is campaigning that the owners sell after documenting years of falling revenues, attendances and league positions. The club only returned to Ricoh for two years after reaching an agreement in 2014. A rent issue forced the club to play home games in Northampton. With the current situation, the club might have to play the games away from home again. Read more »

ANDY ROSE FIRED COVENTRY TO VICTORY OVER BRADFORD CITY

Andy Rose, 26-year old midfielder scored the lone goal that separated Coventry and Bradford in a highly intriguing game at home. Rose came off the sidelines during the encounter to provide the edge over 10-man Bradford City.

The player made instant impact immediately he came into the game with a shot that came off the bar after latching onto Adam Armstrong’s header. Bradford, whose outside hopes of automatic League One promotion have now all but gone, went close through efforts from Josh Cullen and Jamie Proctor. The team sits in fifth position with 71 points from 43 games.

Bradford tried holding on but the night couldn’t have been worse when substitute Steven Davies was sent off for an off-the-ball incident. This made The Bantams drop to fifth but stay in the play-off spots. On the other hand, Coventry are in 11th position, six points away from the top six teams even after their second win in four days.

Sky Blues Coach Tony Mowbray told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire:

“Andy Rose is a good player. He has a great future at this club. I had a long chat with him before the game, as he was the only change from the weekend.

“He is a fantastic athlete. He is 6ft 2ins, he can head it, he can run, he can spray long passes. His time is going to come. Read more »
