Coventry Need New Striker.

Coventry City’s attacking strength has been reduced after striker Chuba Akpom has been recalled by his parent club Arsenal, whose own shortage in terms of striker seems to have motivated this move. Even with the presence of Akpom on-board, manager Steven Pressley was hinting at a new signing before the transfer window closed. Now, he has said that Coventry need another striker before the transfer deadline closes for this season. Clubs are still able to bring in players on loan deals. The club has had a lot of success with loan players like Aston Villa’s Nathan Delfouneso and Anton Robinson from Huddersfield.

Calum Wilson alone has scored 20 goals for the club this campaign, as he targets a move of the leagues in the next few years. Coventry City’s promotion bid may have come to a halt several weeks ago, but the club are hoping for a strong finish to the campaign. This will certainly help them begin the next season in good shape and with confidence. Thursday will be the final day of the transfer window for the lower league clubs, and manager Pressly says that he has been trying hard to bring in a couple of players to strengthen the squad. Despite the lack of availability, he is positive about the situation.

“We need another option following Chuba’s return to Arsenal. I felt his situation where he was returning to Arsenal for certain games, didn’t give him the chance to fully concentrate on his work for this club and that’s what we need at the moment. As I have said from the turn of the year, it (lack of signings) isn’t through a lack of effort, but because there is very little out there. It has never been a matter of resources,” said the manager, whose team have won the last two matches.
