Pre-Season Fixtures For Coventry

There are several upcoming trips for the Coventry rugby team at the pre season time. Coming up is a Leinster trip after which is the Cambridge game as well as the game with the Wasps which would be at the end. It is hoped that these games will help the team to work out the right combinations as well as put the boys through the right places. As they get pressured they would also be more ready for the season matches.

New Members Bolster The Coventry Team

There have been 14 signings of new members in Coventry Rugby team. This has been done before the Greene King IPA championship comes up. The countdown has begun before the kick off begins for the Jersey Reds in the month of September. The Coventry rugby team would be returning to this championship after nine months. They would be hosting the tournament this time on September 1st.

The Coventry team has a title winning season in National League One which was record breaking; currently the director of the team, Rowland Winter is focusing on bolstering the team and that is where the 14 new players will help make a difference. The training for the pre season games is underway; as per the rugby correspondent of Coventry Live, Bobby Bridge, the new boys would have to help the club establish itself in the second tier as far as English rugby is concerned. Derby Day Coming Up In Coventry

Rowland Winter is director of rugby for Coventry and he admits that though the upcoming match between Birmingham Moseley and Coventry is not going to be a friendly one, the prospect of the derby day coming up at Butts Park Arena is mouth watering.

Coventry rugby was able to claim victories of two bonus points that led to a title winning campaign. This was in National League One which was held last season. Here the Blues and Whites were able to secure a large win with a score of 50-11 and they scored in eight tries; this led to a convincing performance that they put up in front of the crowd at home. Ross Stewart Joins Coventry First Team

Ross Stewart is the new coaching recruit from Coventry rugby who has joined the team from Cambridge; he is all ready to make a big impact on the Academy located at Butts Park Arena.

As per Joe Lane, who is winger of the team, Ross as a coach is already making a big impact on the club members. He has joined the Development Academy recently. Tribute To Harry Walker

Harry Walker, who was a legend of Coventry Rugby, passed away recently and hundreds were at their funeral. Harry ‘H’ Walker, a legend for all associated with Coventry Rugby, passed away and his funeral was held at Holy Trinity Church. Here much was talked about as to how he is remembered and how people celebrated his life.

Harry had been one of the oldest international players of this club who was still surviving and his name had become strongly associated with Coventry and Warwickshire rugby; his contributions have been outstanding in the game, off and on the pitch which has been for many decades.
